Abstract
Specimens of cladoceran zooplankton including Daphnia longispina were collected from three different fresh water streams around Kafr El-zayat, North Delta region, Egypt. They were microscopically examined and identified. Detailed morphological and morphometric studies were carried out of Daphnia logispina. Because of the importance of the trunk limbs of D. longispina, which are responsible for feeding and are modified to extract food particles from the water in which it lives, the limbs were examined with a scanning electron microscope after double fixation and critical point drying techniques. The study revealed some fine structures of these limbs and setae. Their morphology and arrangement as well as their armature, were revealed by SEM observations, the armature of limbs 3 and 4 dominates the trunk limb complex and make up an extensive filter chamber.
